Sweet Scarlett | Monthly

Before I started my blog Auntie Rachel did a great job of posting Scarlett's newborn, first, and second month pics and milestones {see below}.

I cannot believe that my little one is already more than 3 months old! This picture {taken at exactly 3 months} is true to Scarlett's personality! How awesome that my shower was Sunshine themed because she truly is little Miss Sunshine!

Other stuff:
She is still all smiles!
Her "talking" has turned into screeching!
Chewing on her hands is by far her favorite thing to do, and she is trying to add her feet into the mix!
She loves kicking around on her changing table!
With Mommy's help she loves to practice walking on the rug!
Shhhhhh don't tell anyone but this little couch potato LOVES watching TV!
She is trying to roll over, but has not quite made it over her arm yet.
We have pretty much given up on her bink!
She still despises riding in the car, although static playing loudly on the radio does help somewhat.

Other stuff:
Laughing a lot
Talks to mommy
Loves her activity gym {grabbing at the hoops + monkey and kicking the giraffe}
Doesn't like her bink still or teethers
Hand gnawing

{Sweet Scarlett | Monthly}

Can you believe our little sweetie {my niece} is ALREADY a month old...TODAY TO BE EXACT! I love that her dedicated momma {my sister} took the time on her Happy One Month Day to snap a quick pic! Follow along as she grows.

Something about Scarlett. From the moment she joined the world she had her tongue sticking out...best eater ever!..even better than my lil' BIG man I think. Anyway this pic takes me back to that wonderful day she was welcomed into our family! That tiny tongue, her spread out toes and those eyes...how can you NOT MELT?!

Other stuff:
Smiling more & more
Looking at + following mommy and daddy with her eyes
Making goat sounds
Getting used to her bink still
Disliking her Moby wrap

{Sweet Scarlett | Monthly}

Here is Scarlett {my niece} at 12 days old with the Sweet Seat from our family. Watch her grow big enough to sit in this adorable creation...it's gonna be here in the blink of an eye! PS how cute is she...holding onto her foot like that?! LOL! LOVES!!!

Happy Birthday to Daddy!

Well I have been slacking off BIG TIME with my posts, so it's catch up time! Shayne, Ryan and Reegan's birthday was August 12th and while our celebration wasn't as awesome as the Hardings' we still had LOTS of fun! We went to one of our FAVORITES, Maggiano's Little Italy at the Domain for lunch. Scarlett, of course, made some friends!

Heading out for some birthday fun!
A nice lady, that reminded me of my Grandma Betty, came by our table and said that she felt like she should be holding Scarlett so that Shayne and I could eat. Gotta love the Grandmothers out there! Scarlett also made friends with a set of fraternal twins that were sitting right next to us. The twins were 2 months older than Scarlett, but you sure couldn't tell!

Scarlett and her FAVORITE guy!
After lunch we went shopping so that Shayne could spend his birthday Visa card from Scarlett and I. It was all a little too much fun for Scarlett who decided to take a nap while we were shopping.

We had SO much fun, and what better way to spend the day than celebrating the best husband and Daddy in the whole wide world!!

Sleep, what's that? Part II

Don't let this picture fool you, this princess wasn't asleep for long! Surely there was a pea under her!!

I just love her finger sucking action, but not even that will keep her asleep!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

This past Saturday Scarlett and I had a REALLY fun day when the Pellegrino girls came over to hang out for the day! We did lots of fun stuff, watched movies, played with Scarlett's toys, ate pizza, and passed out from all the fun! Here are some pics from our girls' day in!

Group hug, well kind of ;)

Ava in her hooded "dress"

Ela twirling her dress

Ela and her friends Heather "the Momma" and Scarlett "the baby" LOL!

I would have never guessed that blankets could be so entertaining!

And they're out!

Dot's Got Mail

Well Scarlett received a WONDERFUL surprise yesterday, her first package in the mail! Cousins Reegan and Fletcher sent Scarlett a gift in the mail that was completely unexpected.

It was a real nailbiter for Scarlett, she couldn't wait to open her package!

And what an awesome gift it was! A pretty new tshirt and a VERY special book, The Dot.

Scarlett with her pretty shirt and FAVORITE new book
As many of you know, and for those of you who don't, before we knew that Scarlett was a girl we called her Dot. It was Grandma Celia who came up with the adorable nickname when she saw Scarlett's very first ultrasound, where indeed she was a tiny little Dot ;)

Scarlett's first Ultrasound, back when she was "Dot Stevens"
Anyway I just love this book by Peter H. Reynolds! On his website http://www.peterhreynolds.com/dot/ it says that The Dot is, "for anyone who has been afraid to express themselves - from a child in art class to an adult whose fear has shut down a long-held dream, Peter H. Reynolds' book The Dot (Candlewick Press) is there to remind us all to "Make your mark, and see where it takes you."

What a wonderful message for us all!

Thanks again to cousins Reegan and Fletcher for the very thoughful gift! XO!

Mommy a.k.a. The Bag Lady

I was inspired by a post by my sister {Rachel Harding} on being a Mommy MacGyver. Once I became a Momma I turned into a total bag lady. It's funny the comments I get in the elevators at work, my fav thus far is the comment that my pump case was a "really big lunch case", as if I would need a lunch box that big!!! I definitely feel like a pack mule sometimes but have tried to streamline things. The method to my madness is bags, bags, bags! I use a Whole Foods wine bottle bag to put clean and empty bottles in for pumping at work, and my breastshields in a food storage container fit nicely on top!

If you can believe it I have even more bags that I bring to daycare to pick up Scarlett. I have a large Whole Foods bag, with a smaller one inside, as well as plastic grocery bags. Scarlett's used bottles fit nicely in the small bag, and stay propped up so that they don't fall over and make a mess. I like to have the grocery bags to put her blanket in since it is usually pretty junky by the end of the day as well as any clothes that have been soiled.

One thing I will be adding to my going home bag is a sheet protector or plastic envelope to put notes, letters, daycare log, and art projects in, thanks to Vanessa Erickson's idea in her post on being a Mommy MacGyver!

I usually store frozen breastmilk in a ziplock freezer bag but may just have to try out Vanessa's tip to use an old soda can box. What a great idea!

UPDATE:

I cannot believe I forgot to include this but I do have one more handy tip! I did not want to add another bag to my daily haul but wanted to have some diapers on hand in case I had to make a quick stop with Scarlett on the way home. Solution? Put a couple diapers in the glove compartment! Wishing I had some of those dry wipes that you get at the hospital that you just have to add water to, but if worse comes to worse a wet paper towel will suffice ;) So there's one more Momma tip/trick for ya!

So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Adieu

Today is a sad day for Scarlett and I, well mostly me! One of our favorite teachers is leaving to go to grad school in San Antonio - TEAR! We are going to miss Ms. Lindsey SO MUCH! But luckily we will still have Ms. Yoshi who is our FAVORITE! Shhhhh, that's our little secret! ;) It's crazy how attached I have already gotten to these ladies but I figure they are doing my job in caring for my little sweetheart while I'm away from her! We wish Ms. Lindsey the best and cannot wait for her Austin visits!

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

Ok I promise I will blog about something other than Scarlett at some point ;) As we sit here at home in our glider Scarlett did one of my favorite things, so I decided to make of list of my favorite things about her {thirteen to keep in theme with the oh so famous Sound of Music song}!

1.) The stretch she does when she wakes up from a long nap

2.) The sounds she makes when she sleeps
3.) Her chunky little thighs
4.) How she kicks her legs out as hard as she can at bath time, silly girl splashes herself in the face but she loves it

One of my FAVORITE "reject" pictures

5.) The dimples on her hands and elbows
6.) How she tightly clasps her hands together when she is nursing
7.) The way she "talks" to me
8.) When I am burping her and can feel her chubby little cheeks smiling against me
9.) Watching her play with her monkey and elephant {her favorite friends} on her activity gym

10.) Her tiny feet, that look exactly like her Daddy's
11.) The way she smiles at me at all hours of the night and in the early morning, even when she has just woken up and is fussy

12.) Seeing how happy Daddy makes her
13.) Seeing how happy she makes Daddy

Who am I kidding, I can't keep it to 13 things ;)
14.) When she sticks out her tongue, which she has been doing since the second she was born
15.) The sound she makes when she yawns
16.) When she blows bubbles
17.) The foot prints she leaves on my blubber belly sometimes
18.) The way she sucks on her tongue in her sleep
19.) When she latches onto my cheek

You scream, I scream

Ahhh the joys of the morning commute. I know any person {with or without children} dreads traffic, construction, accidents and other fun little setbacks. Well I especially dread the ones that keep me motionless in the car with Ms. Scarlett. She DOES NOT like going for a ride in the car, and ESPECIALLY does not like being in the car when we are not moving. Auntie Rachel speculated with Reegan that she did not like the fact that she was not able to see what was going on, and in fact Reegan liked riding in the car much more once she was able to face forward.

Scarlett's typical reaction to a car ride {no worries, we were stopped in traffic!}

Well since it will be a while before we can do that with Scarlett this Momma will be playing classical music and trying to "Keep Calm and Drive On"! What are your tricks to beat the dreaded morning commute with kiddos?
